Local Branding

Business Branding: what does it take to do this? It takes an excited new business owner, or an established one, someone who is looking for a visual plan.

If you have a visual plan in the works and can see what you need, and you just need a photographer then you are on the right track.

With social media hype, there is a great need for clean looking websites and crisp clear clean images is growing. Gone are the days where a cell shot works.

Let’s chat about that for a minute...are you taking cell phone shots? Are they consistent looking? Are you understanding the lighting and coloring, and most importantly composition? An experienced photographer will work with you to see your vision or help you find it.

A question I’m asked a lot is, what is the difference between headshots and business branding?

Headshots are often a simple image with a solid or blurred out background that you use to represent the business side of you or your business. I use this as a time to get a
studio shot or I’ll use an outdoor look with vibrant colors. It’s typically from the elbows and above and could be compared to a yearbook image. I know, many of us hate the posed look but honestly, I encourage everyone to have one for their business. It says part of me is rooted in my business and I take it seriously.

Headshots are a statement to show one’s best self. To show your best self in your headshot be sure to share your outfit choice so that the backdrop and clothing blend into the look. Also, headshots are not about showing the colors you love, the sports you love or that amazing vibrant lip color you got at the Mac counter over the weekend. The look we go for is the true professional which speaks to other professionals and a majority of the public. I know this might make some cringe and they might skip this part, which is fine. I give my ideas off personal experience and my personal outlook when I seek a professional. If a person isn’t referred to you by mouth you often need to be dissected by the person who is considering you, so make sure you put your best foot forward when you think about the audience you're wanting to target.

Okay, let’s move into business branding. There is no set way to business brand, that’s why I need to work closely with you to make sure we represent your business exactly as you see it. With the social media climate that is growing, the owner of the business needs to be in front of the business. I'm sure we have all heard the saying; “people decide they like you before they like your business”. Most often people know what a business is all about and the head of that business is you and your character.

When I schedule a branding project I start with a consultation appointment. We spend about 30 minutes evaluating the website, goals, target clients, social media presence. From that time I put together a plan that might have several phases to it. When someone comes to me for business branding they often say this all feels overwhelming. When you look a the entire

project in its entirety it might seem that way. That's why I like to start by putting it together in phases.
I look forward to hearing from you! This is truly a passion of mine.
