Lifestyle Session

“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends and family belongs and laughter never ends”

Have you considered an in-home photo session? Do you know what an in-home photoshoot entails? It might be perfect for your family. When I’m invited to a clients home I select an area of the home that has the best lighting. I prefer the babies nursery, or master bedroom area, living area but it depends on the style of the session.

Are you welcoming a new baby? Want to capture family life? If the session is to capture a family living life then an area like a dining room or living room space is ideal. If you have an in-home photo session it is meant to be convenient for families. The thought of an in-home session can seem overwhelming but it actually can be easier. If you have a designated spot for the session then just tidy that area, remove any extra items. Most sessions like this that involve a newborn or a family lifestyle moment last about an hour.

Most sessions are super casual but do require some posing. If the session includes small kids they often want pictures of their room and that is totally fine with me, a jumping on the bed shot is always a fun one for kids to have a memorable experience. For best results in your home or out on a location for a photoshoot a little bribery does help any child. I’m not above bribery and it works for my kids in moments like these.

If you have decided to skip the studio look and want your session in your home for a newborn then have a white onesie on hand, a wrap( or I can provide wraps from my studio). If you are going to go the extra mile and clean for the session then I suggest cleaning the window, I know that sounds strange but let me explain.

The natural light is required for the session and often the pictures can be taken up against a window or near a window, free of little fingers prints is ideal. Some props can be brought in from my studio but the idea of a in-home session is to have a natural look.

If your session is an in-home family living life session then have something fun to do:

  1. puzzle

  2. cookies

  3. make breakfast

  4. board game

  5. pizza night

  6. bedtime with stories

  7. legos

  8. Playdough

These fun activities can bring on those fun genuine smiles we want to capture.

Best time of year for a photoshoot is all year long as long as some part of the day allows for good lighting through your windows.

I’m happy to provide information on a fun idea for your family. Verb Photography
